Digitalising the management and monitoring of cleaning procedures at Baxter
THE MISSION of Asdaex
Provide an innovative, turnkey solution to help Baxter digitise the management and monitoring of the cleaning procedures in force at our customer Baxter, as well as the control of their effectiveness. To help us stay healthy, the pharmaceutical industry has very high quality requirements, the main aim of which is to ensure patient safety. These requirements include controlling the environment, which can be a source of contamination. This control involves implementing and monitoring the cleaning procedures in force, as well as checking their effectiveness.
DESIGN
Asdaex assisted Baxter in its search for an easy-to-use solution, that would enable it to move from paper-based monitoring of the cleaning process to digital monitoring, which automatically generates alarms and reports.
SPECIFICATIONS
The solution had to ensure better traceability, be compatible with the existing SCADA infrastructure and adapt to Baxter's quality procedures. In addition, Baxter expected the solution to be scalable, manageable internally and require little maintenance. It also had to exchange the cleanliness status of areas with their MES and comply with GMP requirements (21 cfr part 11 + Eudralex Vol4 annex 11)".

Result
ASDAEX rose to the challenge of developing and implementing this innovative solution. It was developed using the AVEVA System Platform already deployed at Baxter. The aim was to provide a web service-type solution, making the application highly accessible. Its user interface has been designed to be entirely dynamic, so that it can adapt automatically, for example, when new equipment or new cleaning activities are added.
The solution provided by Asdaex:

The interaction of this solution with Baxter's MES system made it possible to guarantee the compliance of cleaning activities upstream of production and eliminated the business risk encountered with the paper-based system. It's a complete turnaround in the philosophy of cleaning tracking that has already received very positive feedback from external auditors and is being fully embraced by end-users.
