A new test bench at Asdaex

Asdaex has invested in an automation test bench to provide a better service for its clients.

This multi-technology test bench (Siemens, Rockwell, B&R, Desigo, VMCenter, etc.) will enable us to respond to the 4.0 digitalization of tomorrow.

The tool will also be able to ensure all the development tests required for the FAT integration of client projects, as well as the support of installations for which we are responsible for ongoing maintenance.

A quality tool that will improve the working comfort of our team of engineers, and which is also didactic by guaranteeing continuous training.

Xperthis CARE EPR: A successful first deployment at the Beau Vallon psychiatric hospital

Xperthis CARE EPR: A successful first deployment at the Beau Vallon psychiatric hospital

The first deployments of the new Xperthis CARE EPR (Electronic Patient Record) were successfully completed at the Beau Vallon psychiatric hospital (Namur) in November 2021. A success that could not have been achieved without the close collaboration between the staff of Beau Vallon, ZORGI (software publisher) and Asdaex (integrator partner).

An Electronic Patient Record (EPR) is an essential tool for the proper functioning of a hospital. It allows gathering digitally all the information related to the patient's care. The new version of Xperthis CARE (formerly Xperthis EPR) aims to standardize and simplify all the forms and documents of all the departments, allowing for better patient follow-up. Beau Vallon is the first psychiatric hospital to benefit from it.

The deployment of a new EPR necessarily represents an upheaval of the daily work for the field staff, since it implies the appropriation of a new tool that can cause many fears among the future user. A challenge that Asdaex has taken to heart!

In collaboration with the Beau Vallon IT team and ZORGI, Asdaex has thus enabled the deployment of the patient record under the best auspices. For this, a meticulous preparation of several months was necessary, which included:

  • Data collection
  • Analysis and definition of needs according to the different services
  • A deployment strategy
  • A deep reflection on the software configuration
  • A training plan

The advantages of the new software (multidisciplinary approach and improvement of the quality of care, harmonization of the encoding procedures for all the services, increase of the security of the patient information, time saving, etc.) were also put forward through an active communication strategy delivered by Asdaex.

"For my part, the support of the EPR and IT team [Beau Vallon and Asdaex, Ed.] in the field was very positive. I was just passing through as I was a mobile team attached to Regina Pacis [the first service deployed, Ed.], but as soon as we had a question, an idea, a concern, we could count on them directly without wasting time on the phone. As far as I'm concerned, everything is going well, I'm still learning about this program every day, there are certainly still things to be improved, but the EPR and the IT team are managing it very well. Thanks to them!"

Nathalie, nurse at Beau Vallon.

User support is indeed a key factor in the success of an EPR migration. Thanks to its extensive knowledge of the software, Asdaex was able to provide the user with the best possible support in the use of Xperthis CARE before, during and after the deployment. This support was combined with a proactive and predictive search for solutions, but also with the maximum exploitation of the new EPR functionalities, which often allowed the user to be reassured even before his fears were expressed.

Since the first deployment, there has been a lot of positive feedback: a much clearer, structured and easy-to-use EPR. Aurélie, dietician at Beau Vallon, confirms:

"One of the precious advantages of Xperthis CARE is the ease of retrieving certain data (biology, vital parameters, treatment...). Thanks to the vertical banner on the right, you no longer need to leave your file to open another window. It's more practical and faster.”

The deployment of the other services is on track, and the project will be completed 6 months ahead of schedule.

Success of the second edition of IDI Talks

Success of the second edition of IDI Talks

The second edition of the IDI Talks (Intelligent Data for Industries Talks) gathered more than eighty people from the industrial sector. Organized jointly by Asdaex, B12 Consulting and MachineSight, the evening featured success stories and demonstrations based on the use of data.

"Implementing digital transformation successfully - Some keys for a pragmatic approach" was the theme proposed to launch the evening. This testimony highlighted why digital transformation should not be a radical change or a huge investment in new technologies, but rather an iterative process to improve the value of a business. Start small, measure the benefits and then roll out more broadly - this is the digital approach at GSK's Hamilton site in a nutshell.

In addition to this introduction, several innovative collaborations were presented:

  • Cenexi and Asdaex: "Automation 4.0 - A new GMP production line in a time of coronavirus"

At the beginning of 2019, Cenexi had received a mandate from a new customer to realize a new production line for a cytotoxic product developed in the laboratory. The project involved many challenges, both technical and operational. In addition to the new technologies to be mastered, it was necessary to integrate existing equipment into the line, to make it completely mobile and to respect a very tight schedule in order not to miss the opportunity to be the first on the market with this new product.

  • Hydro and B12 Consulting: "Automatic detection of surface defects in aluminum extrusion processes"

Norsk Hydro is a Norwegian group specialized in the production, refining, manufacturing and recycling of aluminum products. To improve the quality of precision extrusion products, Hydro has embarked with B12 Consulting on the path of automatic surface defect detection using advanced machine learning techniques.

  • GSK and MachineSight: "AI as a tool to improve visual inspection of freeze-dried products"

Visual inspection is a complex task that requires analysis, learning and interpretation. Traditional equipment causes a high rejection rate on freeze-dried products and when left to humans, these controls induce a high mental load. GSK has developed a strong expertise in the development and use of neural networks to perform these controls, with the objective of using it in production.

This second edition also allowed to highlight projects in a visual way thanks to demonstrations of the tools and systems implemented: a robotic arm at the service of data science in the field of automated control of Petri dishes (GSK and Asdaex), an automated lock recognition system to facilitate troubleshooting (Fernand Georges and B12 Consulting) and a robotic virtual operator performing the control of defects in vials (MachineSight).

A renewed success for IDI Talks! We look forward to seeing you at the third edition...
